Vincent and Jake Learn Color Mixing
Annie Painter is a former public school teacher, elementary principal and artist. She
now teaches graduate school and works nationally as an arts and literacy coach
with teachers. Her children’s book
has become a hit with all ages. It is full color, hard bound and includes a
special art journal section so people can learn to mix color and make wheels,
even better than dogs! Why don’t more dogs paint? Annie’s two Vizsla dogs are bored with their life.
They convince her they are serious about learning to paint. Both explore color
mixing; Vincent with messy abandon, Jake with resistance and fussing. In the
end they both make color wheels as unique as they are and drift off to sleep
wondering “Why don’t more dogs paint?” This
story was read, revised and well loved long before it became a “real” book.
Children compare themselves to the dogs. Adults recognize familiar teaching and
parenting attempts. In the words of fifth grader Tom, “If you like art and dogs, then this is the book for you!” Click here To Order Jake and Vincent Learn
